Does everyday life come with pain?

This question is definitely something that crosses our mind daily regarding physical and mental health. Is pain every day truly normal?

The short answer is no, but I’m going to enrich us with the healing aspect regarding your mind & body. If you live life with every day aches and pains this is probably due to muscle tension being carried. Imagine the body as your personal make and model car your given at birth. To maintain a proper working vehicle you must rotate and balance the tires and change the oil. The tires being your muscles and the oil being the ligaments and tendons. If you’re not maintaining the care regarding your physical health then your mental health may follow.

Getting a frequent massage is advised due to helping release the tensions and knots caused by stress. Stress doesn’t only affect the muscles. It can also affect the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is the main factor in a healthy immune system in the body. The lymphatic system contains ports which “dumps” toxins out in order to regenerate new ones. Both types of massages can increase the overall wellbeing by reducing inflammation and preventing stressors from impacting the mental state as well.

Meditation helps to relax the mind when the world sometimes gets too loud. Yoga consists of healing techniques like stretching and mindfulness. Simple every day gentle yoga poses such as Savassana (corpse pose) and Sukhasana (eagles pose) can make a difference. Savassana (corpse pose) is a restorative pose in which you lay on the floor in a comfortable position flat on your back. Once your in this pose comfortably then you close your eyes and scan your body of any tension. The next step is to breath into the tension and exhale it out from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet. This mindful practice can help reduce stress and relieve discomfort in the body. As you sit cross legged on the floor lengthening from your sacrum firmly rooted into your seated position up into to the base of your head can release neck and shoulder pain. This pose can be considered difficult for some. The key is to feel comfortable in a seated position. You may be elevated by pillow, props such as two blocks placed together covered with a comfortable blanket and pillow, or chair. We want to ensure the knees and hips are aligned so the pelvic floor is flattened to the ground. As you root yourself into the surface then you begin lengthening from your “sits” bone and feel yourself grow taller elongating the spine into its proper form. Breathe into each vertebrae as you expand your spine feeling the relief from daily discomfort that you may initially experience in this position.

Simple changes can be done to improve the quality of life. Life happens and we all have a lot on our plate sometimes. We like to inform others with information that can make us feel better than we did before. When information becomes more accessible and informative then we begin to plant a seed in our mind. A seed that starts to grow once we nurture it. Hence why pain doesn’t have to be forever. Pain must be felt, accepted, and released. We cannot grow completely without light. Gratification is shown once new growth begins. I am thankful to be able to shine and show that self care is one of the greatest gifts we can give to one another. The light in me sees the light in you.

Namaste.
